Apparently, Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson saw good things in Week 1. But he didn’t like the media criticism. And Stephen A. Smith absolutely torched him after his miserable Week 1 performance.

Smith reminded Watson of his past, according to a post on X by ClutchPoints.

“Deshaun Watson, in Cleveland, you have been awful,” Smith said. “And if you were to get arrested for being awful, I wouldn’t knock it … It has been very, very bad.”

Smith hinted at Watson's suspension for 11 games and $5 million fine for violating the NFL’s personal-conduct policy back in 2022, according to NFL.com.

“Watson has reached confidential settlements with 23 of the 24 women who filed civil lawsuits against him alleging he committed sexual misconduct during massage therapy sessions,” the NFL.com staff wrote. “Watson has previously denied any wrongdoing and maintained any sex with the women was consensual. Two grand juries in Texas declined to indict Watson on criminal complaints filed by 10 women.”

And although Smith didn’t specifically name that situation, he hinted at it.

“I’m gonna tell you how you just made it worse,” Smith said. “Awful is one thing. Stupid is another. I’m not calling you stupid, Deshaun Watson. Wouldn’t disrespect you like that, bro. I’m calling your actions stupid.

“You’re complaining about people talking about you playing football. Haven’t you done other things that people could be talking about? … You should embrace every football conversation.”

In the Browns’ season-opening loss in Week 1, Watson completed 16 of 22 passes for 205 yards with a touchdown and an interception. The Browns lost 34-10 to the Jaguars.

Browns coach Todd Monken stopped short of saying Watson is fighting for a Week 3 start based on what happens this week, according to NBC Sports.

“I wouldn’t say that,” Monken said. “I always expect our players to play well. I wouldn’t put them out there if I didn’t. I expect him to play really well. And there were moments on Sunday when he did.”
