While Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy looks for things to be upset about, he has a running back situation that is a good problem to have. And McCarthy revealed his Jaylen Warren usage plans when Rico Dowdle returns from injury, according to a post on X by Ari Meirov.
“#Steelers HC Mike McCarthy on RB Jaylen Warren and what things will look like once Rico Dowdle returns: ‘Jaylen is our featured player right now. Let's make sure we all recognize that. He's hot. It’s important for us as an offense, coaches and players alike, to continue to put him in position to make plays. That won’t change.’ ”
This is music to the ears of fantasy managers who have Warren on their team. And it’s troublesome for managers who have Dowdle. It looks like Warren could take the job and run with it.
Steelers RB Jaylen Warren off to a great start
Warren is coming off a big game in the 34-22 win over the Colts. He carried 15 times for 101 yards and a 50-yard scoring burst. Warren also led the team in receiving with six catches for 87 yards and an 80-yard touchdown.
Warren has been that guy, according to NBC Sports.
“He’s produced, so it’s been heavy,” McCarthy said. “It’d be great to get Rico (Dowdle) back this week, too. Having him as a one-two punch was the vision of this offense, but Jaylen’s crushing it right now. He’s been awesome for us.”
McCarthy gushed about Warren’s performance on Sunday, according to post-gazette.com.
“He’s the man,” coach Mike McCarthy said. “He’s hauling it for us right now.”

How about this: Warren is the first in the NFL to do so since Herschel Walker of the Cowboys in Week 15, 1986, per NFL Research, according to NFL.com.
“That’s pretty incredible,” Rodgers said. “It’s been what? 40 years? That’s pretty outstanding.”
The Steelers are 3-2 on the season. They are in a three-way tie for second place in the AFC North. The Ravens, at 4-1, stand in first place.
