The Baltimore Ravens proved they can win without Lamar Jackson. However, head coach Jesse Minter made it clear that nobody in the NFL is going to feel sorry for a team dealing with injuries.
Baltimore rallied for a dramatic overtime victory against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football, improving to 4-1 and taking sole possession of first place in the AFC North.
Speaking after the win, Minter delivered a blunt message about overcoming adversity, per Jeff Zrebiec on X. “Nobody cares in the league who you have, who you don't have, what the circumstances are. Just proud of our team in that regard,” Minter said.
Baltimore entered the primetime matchup without Jackson, who was sidelined with an ankle injury. Instead, backup quarterback Tyler Huntley stepped into the starting role and helped lead the Ravens to a 30-23 victory. Huntley finished with 201 passing yards and two passing touchdowns before adding the game-winning one-yard rushing touchdown in overtime. Derrick Henry also delivered a crucial performance, surpassing 100 rushing yards and contributing a touchdown reception.
The Ravens needed every bit of that production after trailing late in the fourth quarter. Huntley led a game-tying touchdown drive in the final minute, connecting with Devontez Walker before Henry converted the two-point attempt. Baltimore then took control in overtime, with the defense delivering the final blow when safety Kyle Hamilton intercepted Tua Tagovailoa, who had replaced an injured Michael Penix Jr. at quarterback for Atlanta.
Article Continues BelowMinter's message reflects the mentality Baltimore will need as it navigates a demanding NFL season. Jackson remains one of the league's most dangerous quarterbacks, but the Ravens showed they have enough talent and resilience to win when their superstar is unavailable.
The Ravens now turn their attention to the Cleveland Browns, with an opportunity to start their divisional schedule with another victory. Jackson's status will remain a major storyline, but Baltimore has already demonstrated that it will not use injuries as an excuse.
