It was a win-or-go-home game for the Washington Mystics as they played the Atlanta Dream on Wednesday night. While Sonia Citron put together a historic two-game stretch for the Mystics, her performance was not enough to keep their 2026 WNBA playoff run alive.
Citron scored 25 points in both games of Washington’s first-round series against the Atlanta Dream. She finished Game 1 with 25 points, six rebounds and three assists before posting 25 points, seven rebounds and two assists in Game 2.
The 22-year-old became the youngest player in WNBA history to record consecutive 25-point games in the playoffs. She also led the Mystics in scoring in both games of the series. However, her historic feat went in vain as it was the end of the road for the Mystics.
Washington lost Game 1, 92-77, before Atlanta completed the sweep with a 93-75 victory Wednesday. The Dream advanced to the semifinals, where they will face the New York Liberty.

The Mystics cut Atlanta’s lead to seven entering the fourth quarter after a 10-2 run to close the third. Citron helped lead that push, but Washington could not complete the comeback.
The former Notre Dame standout was selected No. 3 overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft and continued her development during her second professional season. Citron finished the 2026 campaign averaging 16.8 points and 4.4 assists.
