Vanderbilt is currently the talk of the college football world after their resounding victory over North Carolina State, but Skip Bayless is spotlighting another aspect of that win. Bayless took to social media Saturday afternoon to show love for Jared Curtis in his first start for the Commodores.

“LAUGH IF YOU WANT. BUT IN HIS FIRST COLLEGE START FOR MY COMMODORES, 5-STAR QB JARED CURTIS SHOWED ME A POTENTIAL 1ST PICK IN THE NFL DRAFT. 6-3, 230. WON 2 HS STATE TITLES. EASY VELOCITY AND DEADLY ACCURACY ON DEEPER THROWS. AND CAN MOVE! BIG LATE MISTAKE – BUT WHAT A DEBUT,” Bayless posted.

Curtis indeed had a phenomenal game for Vanderbilt on Saturday. He threw for 277 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions on 20 of 34 attempts. He also had 12 carries for 64 yards. Junior Cheryl benefited the most from Curtis's arm, finishing the game with 108 yards and two of Curtis's three touchdown passes.

But the bigger story is Vanderbilt ultimately pulling through with a brutal safety that North Carolina State blocked, leading to a fumble recovery that allowed Vanderbilt to steal the 35-31 victory. Postgame, Vanderbilt coach Clark Lea spoke about how they take every level of the field seriously.

“I'm obviously proud of the team, we talk about every blade of grass on defense and literally, that's every blade of grass. I think you've gotta credit North Carolina State, they played the better football today, but, you know, we had enough at the end there to get it close and to put pressure on 'em and it was gonna take every second of the clock.”
