The Eagles faced tough circumstances against the Bears in Week 3 as Jalen Hurts was hit by D'Marco Jackson and had to enter concussion protocol. Andy Dalton stepped in and threw a brutal interception as the Bears opened a commanding lead late.
The Hurts situation had Skip Bayless reacting with intensity as he shared his raw thoughts.
“I'm great with protecting players, forcing concussion checks, but come on, NFL, BE READY. Took way too long to completely clear Jalen Hurts and he was rightfully furious about it.”
Hurts was outplayed by veteran Bears third-stringer Case Keenum, who punished a blown coverage with a touchdown pass. Keenum hit former Lions receiver Khalif Raymond on the play, which went for 41 yards and changed the complexion of the game. The Bears outgained the Eagles throughout most of the night as Keenum shocked the hometown Chicago crowd and turned back the clock with his stellar play.
The Hurts play also incensed Eagles coach Nick Sirianni, who dropped a NSFW three-word bomb after Jackson's brutal hit. The Eagles continued to fight and scrap but were outgunned by coach Ben Johnson's Bears, who outscored them by 17 points in the second half en route to a 27-7 lead with a little over seven minutes on the clock.
The Eagles have ruled the NFC East for years but the Bears are giving them a run for their money as one of the NFC's new top franchises. Johnson's team sent a message to the NFL on the same night Bayless sent one of his own, albeit for entirely different reasons.
