The Los Angeles Dodgers are gearing up to defend its consecutive World Series titles. But know they need a healthy Tarik Skubal and Shohei Ohtani to boost the three-peat chances.

Dodger fans received some eye-grabbing news on that front Wednesday via the franchise.

“The Dodgers have reinstated designated hitter/pitcher Shohei Ohtani from the injured list and LHP Tarik Skubal from the bereavement list,” the Dodgers posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.

The account adds that LA “optioned OF (outfielder) Josue De Paula and RHP (right handed pitcher) Kyle Hurt to Triple-A Oklahoma City.”

Meanwhile, Dodgers insider Katie Woo shared more intel on LA's plan with De Paula.

“By optioning De Paula on Wednesday, the Dodgers ensured he’d be eligible to be recalled by Oct. 3, the date of the first scheduled games of the National League Division Series,” Woo wrote. “De Paula would not be eligible for the Wild Card series. But that’s of little concern to the Dodgers. They can clinch a first-round bye with a win over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday, or with a loss by the Atlanta Braves to the Cincinnati Reds.”

These moves arrive with LA three victories away from winning 100 games on the season. The Dodgers have five regular season games left and are making the big push for the playoffs.

But the National League race became tighter than ever.
