Aaron Judge isn't ready to concede the AL Wild Card Series just yet.

One day after Yankees manager Aaron Boone said the organization is planning to be without Judge for the opening round of the postseason, the New York captain offered a considerably more optimistic outlook.

Judge told ESPN that he intends to be available for Game 1 next Tuesday as he continues recovering from a moderate-grade right calf strain.

“That's what the plan is,” Judge said. “Try to get my body ready so I'm ready to go.”

That's certainly different from the expectation Boone established Tuesday.

“We're planning on him not being a part of that,” Boone said, although the Yankees manager stopped short of completely ruling out a return.

Judge was placed on the injured list Saturday, retroactive to Sept. 17, ending another injury-plagued regular season for the three-time MVP. He received a platelet-poor plasma injection Monday and has been limited while waiting for clearance to increase his activity.
