The New Orleans Saints are currently gearing up for their upcoming game against the Cleveland Browns at home. The Saints are coming off a bye week this past Sunday, currently sitting at 2-5 on the campaign.
It's likely that the Saints will be facing off against Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders in this one, as starter Deshaun Watson was unexpectedly placed in the concussion protocol earlier this week following Cleveland's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Now, Sanders has revealed his mindset heading into the matchup with the Saints.
“Yeah, I've seen a lot. When I smile, just know that means something. (laughs) I'm maturing, you know what I'm saying? I'm maturing. Like, I could have gave that a decent answer, but now I'm just going to smile,” said Sanders, when asked about the Saints' defense, per Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team on X, formerly Twitter.
The Saints haven't exactly been lighting it up on defense this year, giving up frequent huge games to opposing offenses throughout this season en route to their poor record.
Meanwhile, Sanders has come under scrutiny for some infamous press conference moments over the years, including when he pantomimed answers at one point, so Browns fans will be happy to see him take the high road when discussing the upcoming matchup.
Sanders will be looking to prove that he is more than capable of being a starting NFL quarterback in this one, with Watson having led the Browns to a surprising 5-3 record up to this point.
Kickoff between the Saints and Browns is slated for Sunday at 1:00 pm ET from New Orleans.
