San Jose Sharks captain Macklin Celebrini will be a game-time decision for Saturday's matchup against the Edmonton Oilers as he continues recovering from a lower-body injury. The 20-year-old forward has missed the team's last two games, leaving his availability for the contest dependent on how he feels before puck drop.
Head coach Ryan Warsofsky confirmed Celebrini's status Friday. The center participated in practice alongside his teammates and completed additional skating after the session. Although he did not initially participate in line rushes, he occasionally joined them during practice.
Celebrini also skated on Thursday morning after missing practices on the previous two days. However, he didn't play in San Jose's 3-2 overtime win over the St. Louis Blues that evening.
Monday's game versus the Dallas Stars was the first contest Celebrini missed because of the injury. He initially participated in warmups but informed the team's training staff that he did not feel completely right. Celebrini was subsequently ruled out of the contest, which the Sharks lost 5-0.
The injury interrupted an impressive start to his season. Celebrini recorded five assists across San Jose's opening two games, collecting three in a 4-3 overtime victory against the Florida Panthers on October 1 before adding two in a 5-4 overtime win over the Los Angeles Kings.

His production ranked fourth in the league. Since the Sharks selected him first overall in the 2024 NHL Draft, he has accumulated 183 points through 154 games.
Named the youngest captain in the franchise history on September 25, Celebrini also holds the distinction of being the league's youngest active captain.
