Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta Davis were once friends, but a spiteful rivalry has developed in recent years.
Stevenson and Davis are two of America's biggest boxing stars, and used to be allies in the sport.
The talented pair used to spar regularly and helped bring each other up as they rose through the ranks in the squared circle.
But as the prospect of the pair meeting in a blockbuster fight grew, their relationship deteriorated.
Exchanges have been regular on social media between the two feared operators, who have taken aim at each other's careers.
Stevenson blames Davis for feud
And now Stevenson has finally opened up about their continuous spat. He believes that the fault of their recent quarrel has come from Davis' insecurity over his impressive career.
The 29-year-old explained: "There's so much that happened in that situation.
"I don't know what it is with that dude, I don't know why is there like so much hatred upon me, but it is what it is.
"When I was younger I used to be a little bit different, I used to be disrespectful â as I got older, I started learning how to speak in front of these cameras.
"But, if you ever pay attention to me when I talk about him, I always say like he's a special fighter, he's a tremendous fighter.
"I try not to talk down on his name because I give him his credit when it's due. But if you listen to him, he doesn't ever say anything good about me.
"But I think it comes to like some type of insecurity. You know I'm the truth. So we the best of the best and I've been saying it for years. So I'm going to keep it that way.
"I'm not going to lose my integrity. Hopefully he do his thing, I don't wish no ill upon him. Hopefully he come back and get all that other stuff situated."
Could Davis and Stevenson fight?
Given the growing narrative surrounding a showdown, the pair seemed destined to do battle in the paid ranks.
Stevenson is currently focused on super-lightweight where he holds a world title, which he could stake against 'Tank'.
He is signed with Dana White's Zuffa Boxing, and Davis has been subject of interest for White who could bring them into the same stable.
Davis hasn't fought since drawing with Lamont Roach last March, but is expected to return in 2027.
A blockbuster clash could be on the table, but he may instead be tempted by Ryan Garcia whom he has approached over a rematch.
