Serie A odds 2026/27: Can Inter Milan make it back-to-back Scudetti?

Inter Milan began the 2026/27 Serie A season as both the defending champions and betting favourites to make it back-to-back Scudetto wins.

Cristian Chivu's side were simply too good for the rest of the league last season. The Nerazzurri walked to the title with 87 points, scoring 89 goals to finish with a remarkable +54 goal difference. They also beat Lazio 2-0 in the Coppa Italia final to complete the domestic double.

Given those stats, it's little wonder Inter are the favourites in the latest Serie A odds. Roma and Como were the surprise packages last season. They finished third and fourth and will play in the Champions League. AC Milan and Juventus both missed out. As a result, Milan became one of nine Serie A teams to change head coach in a chaotic summer in Italy.

Below I look at the title race and cover the latest Serie A odds 2026/27 in more detail.

I'll also be taking a closer look at the top scorer market and the potential matchups between the Italian clubs and English Premier League teams in Europe this season.

🏆 Serie A title odds 2026/27

The bookmakers clearly believe Inter Milan are the team to beat and expect them to pick up from where they left off last season.

Cristian Chivu's side finished 11 points ahead of second-place Napoli, 14 ahead of Roma in third and 16 ahead of fourth-place Como.

Inter's 89-goal haul was also 24 more than any other team managed to score. Como (65) and Juventus (61) were the only other two teams to score over 60 goals in Serie A.

Roma had a memorable first season under new head coach Gian Piero Gasperini. He was brought in to revitalise the club after a troubled 2024/25 campaign. The former Atalanta head coach did just that, leading the Giallorossi to a third-place finish on 73 points.

However, the real story of last season has to be Como's fourth-place finish. In what was only their second season since returning to the top flight, the Biancoblù won their final three matches of the season to sneak into fourth place and the Champions League with 71 points.

AC Milan and Juventus both finished outside of the top four. They are two of the biggest names in world football and both strengthened over the summer.

So with six teams in the mix, here are the latest Scudetto odds for the 2026/27 season:

The Inter Milan title odds are short but it is understandable given how dominant they were last season, and they have won each of their opening four matches.

The rest of the betting has moved considerably since the campaign began. Roma have been backed from 10/1 into 9/2 after matching Inter's perfect start, which makes them second favourites ahead of both Juventus and AC Milan. Como's fast start has halved their price. Napoli have gone the other way entirely, drifting to the longest odds of the six.

Juve and Milan are both in European action in the Europa League, a competition both will believe they can win, while Como face the additional demands of a first Champions League campaign.

It will be interesting to see whether the market has got this right.

👑 Inter's title defence and the chasing pack

There was chaos at a lot of Serie A clubs over the summer. But unlike some, Inter had no reason to hit the panic button and instead quietly went about their business with astute signings.

Nine Serie A clubs changed their head coach. One of them were city rivals AC Milan and another were runners-up Napoli. However, Roma, Como and Juventus all retained the same head coaches, and that stability is showing in the early table.

When Cristian Chivu replaced Simone Inzaghi in the summer of 2025 there were plenty of reservations about the inexperienced Romanian's ability to do such a high-profile job.

Getting the negatives out of the way first, Inter had a poor Champions League campaign last season.

They qualified for the knockout stages by finishing 10th in the league phase but were dumped out in the playoff round, sensationally losing 5-2 on aggregate to little-known Norwegian outfit Bodø/Glimt.

This was quite a disappointment for the team who reached the final of Europe's elite club competition the previous season. However, domestically, things couldn't have gone much better for Chivu.

Yes, it's fair to say that a lot of Inter's rivals underachieved. But even if their rivals had done better, it's difficult to imagine any would have bettered Inter's 87-point Scudetto-clinching total.

There's simply no recent evidence to justify this. Napoli won Serie A the season before with 82 points. In the 2023/24 season when Inter won the league with 94 points, their closest rivals AC Milan finished second on just 75.

And it's not just points. Inter are also streets ahead when it comes to scoring goals. They scored 89 goals last season. In the 2024/25 campaign they managed 79, and in 2023/24, they also scored 89. This points to attacking consistency. Lautaro Martínez and Marcus Thuram have remained at the club and will continue to lead the attack, so we can expect to see the goals continue to flow.

However, there have been some changes to the playing staff elsewhere in the squad. Experienced goalkeeper Yann Sommer was a high-profile exit, but the biggest loss is probably Denzel Dumfries departing for Real Madrid.

The loss of Dumfries has been offset by the arrivals of John Stones and Djed Spence from the Premier League. Both will only further bolster an already strong defensive backline.

Aleksandar Stanković also returned to the club after Inter opted to activate their €23 million buy-back clause and re-sign him from Club Brugge.

The chasing pack

Roma have made the fastest start of Inter's rivals, winning each of their opening four to sit level with the champions at the top of the table. That run has brought their title price in from 10/1 to 9/2 and made them the closest thing Inter have to a genuine challenger.

Gian Piero Gasperini was put in charge last summer, and the assumption was he would get the team playing with the same attacking style and flair as his Atalanta side. However, it was anything but. The Giallorossi did score a respectable 59 goals, but it was at the back where Gasperini made the biggest impact, with his team conceding just 31 goals, the second fewest in Serie A.

Gasperini has now got the Romans scoring more freely while retaining that defensive shape, which is exactly what was needed to turn a third-place finish into a title challenge.

Elsewhere, AC Milan reacted to missing out on Champions League football. The Rossoneri finished fifth last season and instantly sacked their whole football management team, including head coach Massimiliano Allegri. It's in the dugout where they made their most eye-catching appointment, bringing in Ruben Amorim as their new head coach.

The former Manchester United boss is attempting to rebuild his reputation after Michael Carrick completely turned around the fortunes at Old Trafford following Amorim's dismissal.

The new Milan boss has been backed in the transfer market with the arrival of Gonçalo Ramos from PSG as the club attempts to address its goalscoring problem. Milan only managed 53 goals last season, the fewest of the top six, and that played a significant part in a poor finish that saw them win just one of their last five and drop out of the Champions League positions. They remain unbeaten this term, but two draws in four have seen their price drift to 12/1.

Then there is Juventus. The Old Lady finished sixth last season on 69 points and also endured a difficult end to the campaign, winning just one of their last five matches. But instead of firing their head coach, Juve stuck with Luciano Spalletti.

The former Italy boss only took over in October 2025 on a short-term contract, but after an impressive run he signed a two-year extension in April taking him through to 2028.

Spalletti began the new season without Dusan Vlahović. The Serb finally ended his time in Turin when he left for Beşiktaş, with Randal Kolo Muani returning to the club on a permanent transfer to replace him. Performances still have to improve, with seven points from four leaving Juve outside the European places already.

Napoli are the one the market has abandoned. Finishes in the top two over the past two seasons made them the obvious main threat to Inter, but two defeats in their opening four have pushed them out from 12/1 to 20/1, the longest of the six contenders.

Last season was turbulent enough to end with Antonio Conte exiting the club, and he has since been replaced by the experienced Massimiliano Allegri. On the playing side, Rasmus Højlund's permanent transfer from Manchester United was confirmed over the summer, having scored 12 goals in 33 matches on loan. Romelu Lukaku left for Fenerbahçe after an injury-hit season that saw him play just five matches.

For anyone who thinks the market has overreacted to four games, this is now the longest price available on a side that finished second last season.

✨ Como's fairytale continues

It may have gone slightly under the radar in the UK, but the biggest story in Serie A last season has to be Como's fourth-place finish.

Led by former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fàbregas, Como picked up 71 points, scoring 65 goals and conceding just 29, the fewest in Serie A. Furthermore, they kept 19 clean sheets. Again, the best record in the league.

As a result of their success, Como are now in the Champions League for the first time in their history. Nico Paz was Como's star performer last year. The attacking midfielder scored 12 goals and provided six assists for the team.

He came close to rejoining Real Madrid in the summer when the Spaniards looked set to activate their €9 million buy-back clause. But in a major boost to the Italians, the player expressed his desire to stay at the club for one more season, and eventually Como secured a €60 million deal for the Argentine.

The market has caught up fast. Como were 28/1 for the title before a ball was kicked and are now 12/1 after taking 10 points from their opening four, which puts them third and level on points with Lazio.

Juggling Champions League football with their domestic duties won't be easy, but given their upward trajectory over the past few years, the Biancoblù are certainly a team worth following.

⚽ Serie A top scorer odds

Lautaro Martínez won the Golden Boot last season with just 17 goals. It was the lowest total to win the award in Italy since Diego Maradona's 15 goals in 1987/88.

Italian football was defensive and more for the purists back in the 1980s and 1990s. These days it's far more attacking and recent statistics show that last season's low total was an anomaly.

Martínez began the season as the favourite to pick up the Paolo Rossi Award, but Roma's Donyell Malen netted a hat-trick on opening day and has since been backed all the way into 4/6, which makes him odds-on and a long way clear of the field. Also in the running are AC Milan's new poacher Gonçalo Ramos at 16/1 and Como's Anastasios Douvikas, also 16/1.

Malen has been on fire since joining from Aston Villa, scoring 14 goals in just 18 matches in the second half of last season. The Dutchman had by far the best goals-to-games ratio of all the leading scorers, and he has begun the new campaign very much where he left off.

For my betting tip I am going for a new arrival. Gonçalo Ramos has been brought in to score the goals that were missing for AC Milan last season.

He is a big money arrival from PSG with a big match temperament and I expect him to be top scorer in Serie A. He has drifted from 8/1 to 16/1 as Malen has shortened, which makes the price considerably better than it was in August.

⚔️ Which Serie A clubs will face English opposition in Europe?

Como will welcome Manchester United and PSG to their picturesque home on Italy's famous lake, if UEFA allow games to take place at the Stadio Sinigaglia. When Atalanta first qualified for the competition, they were forced to play their home games at the San Siro.

Hopefully for Como's sake, their stadium will pass the test. One thing that is for sure is that Cesc Fàbregas will take his charges to the newly renovated Camp Nou, where he spent three years as a player.

The San Siro will play host to Liverpool for a third year in a row, after the Reds beat Inter there 1-0 last season and AC Milan 3-1 the year before, with Dominik Szoboszlai scoring in both victories.

Napoli begin their campaign at home to Arsenal, hoping for much better this time having failed to finish in the top 24 last season. Roma return to Old Trafford, where they once lost 7-1 in the knockouts.

There will be brand new opposition for AC Milan, who will travel to Dorset to face European debutants Bournemouth in the Europa League before hosting Sunderland, whose only previous continental adventure came in the 1973-74 Cup Winners' Cup.

The latest Serie A betting odds - from most of our favourite football betting sites - are pointing towards another Scudetto for Inter Milan. 

It’s hard to argue with that as the Nerazzurri were so much better than the rest of the division last season.

However, the opening month has produced a genuine challenger where the summer transfer window did not. My Serie A betting tips are:

Inter to win the Serie A

It looks set to be business as usual in Serie A. Inter have finished in the top two for the previous three years, winning the title by 11 points last season, and four wins from four is the ideal start to a defence.

Of all Inter's rivals, only AC Milan have torn up the blueprint and started again. The Rossoneri have changed head coach and made some interesting signings, but only time will tell if the changes are for the better.

Along with a significant improvement from one of their rivals, Inter's level will also need to drop if the gap is to be closed. Roma have made the first part of that argument for themselves, so I can see the title race being closer this year, but I still don't believe any of Inter's rivals are quite ready to knock them off top spot just yet.

Como to finish in the top four

Como were 28/1 to win Serie A in August and are 12/1 now, which tells you the market no longer regards them as a novelty.

While I don't think for a minute that Cesc Fàbregas can lead his team to the Scudetto, I do think there is still value in the top-four market. Their price there has come in from 2/1 to 5/4 on the back of 10 points from four games.

Whenever they have been doubted in the past, the Biancoblù have delivered. I have faith in them doing it again and finishing in the Champions League places.

Roma to win the Scudetto

This started the season as my dark horse pick at 10/1. Four straight wins later, Roma are level with Inter at the top and in at 9/2, so the value has gone even if the argument has only got stronger.

I'm still not convinced that Donyell Malen can continue to score goals at the same rate he did in the second half of last season. If I was, he would have been my top goalscorer betting pick.

However, even if his rate only drops slightly, it would still be good enough to keep Roma in the title race.

Gian Piero Gasperini is an experienced campaigner. He is in his second full season in charge at the Olympic Stadium and has already improved on a defence that conceded the second-fewest goals in the division last term.

The Romans finished 14 points behind Inter last season and that was a huge gap to close. They have closed it to nothing in four weeks, which is why 9/2 now looks a fair price rather than a generous one.

📅 Key dates for the 2026/27 Serie A season

Serie A is home to some of the biggest rivalries in world football.

The Milan Derby, also known as the Derby della Madonnina, sees Inter and AC Milan clash twice in the San Siro. The first showdown is scheduled for 31st October.

And then there is the Derby d'Italia contested by Inter Milan and Juventus. However, we have to wait until January 2027 for the first of those two meetings.

This season there are three international breaks, with a huge pause in the league for the first one between 21st September and 6th October.
