Thursday Night Football is headlined by the defending Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks (3-2) going to Mile High for a duel with the Denver Broncos (3-2). This could have been the Super Bowl matchup last year if Bo Nix didn’t suffer an injury before the AFC Championship.
Denver is dealing with a plague of injuries in the secondary. Star CB Pat Surtain (ankle) and Talanoa Hufanga (ankle) are out, plus CB Riley Moss (ribs) is questionable as well, so the Broncos could be down both starting corners and a safety. That’s bad news for the Broncos since the offense hasn’t been cooking. First-year Offensive Coordinator Davis Webb has struggled with Denver as the Broncos rank 26th in points per game (19.4), 30th in yards per game (269.0), and 29th in plays per game (57.4).
Denver is coming off a 23-17 win over the now 0-5 Chargers. The Broncos averaged 3.9 yards per play and were an abysmal 1-of-12 on third downs versus Los Angeles. Denver’s defense did force three turnovers to overcome Bo Nix‘s season-low 123 passing yards and the Broncos 224 yards as an offense.
Seattle is coming off a 32-29 loss to San Francisco in a game with seven total turnovers! The Seahawks led 26-21 going into the fourth quarter but was outscored 11-3 in the fourth quarter to lose. Seattle turns around on a short week as they from Seattle to Denver. The Seahawks will look to improve on another poor performance from Sam Darnold. After losing to the Commanders, Darnold has 168 and 195 passing yards over those two games with three touchdowns and three interceptions. His top target, Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught 102 of Darnold’s 195 yards against the 49ers and could be in for a big night against a depleted Denver secondary.
Speaking of depleted, the Seahawks are getting thin at running back with Jadarian Price (shoulder/chest) and Zach Charbonnet (knee) both out and George Holani not 100-percent. Seattle’s defense is looking for a bounce back spot in primetime after allowing an uncharacteristic 33, 23, and 32 points over the last three games. Let’s see if they get that bounce back in Denver!
Let’s dive into the numbers and see if we can’t find an additional sweat or two.

Expert picks & predictions for Seahawks at Broncos
Vaughn Dalzell (@VmoneySports) likes Sam Darnold to go Over 30.5 pass attempts:
“So far the only game that Sam Darnold has gone for 30-plus pass attempts was against Washington, and that was a trailing game script and shootout for the Seahawks. While this game should be more of a grind than shootout, I like the odds that Darnold and Seattle choose to throw more. Denver is down CB Pat Surtain, S Talanoa Hufanga, and possibly CB Riley Moss. That’s a positive matchup for Darnold who’s struggled in the last two games with 168 and 195 yards on 13-of-22 and 18-of-29. Darnold needs a bounce back game and Denver may have become a good spot with all the injuries in the secondary and to Seattle’s running backs (Charbonnet & Price are out).”

Quarterback matchup for Seahawks at Broncos
· Seattle: Sam Darnold – After coming back from an injury in Week 1, Sam Darnold has been shaky for the Seahawks. Darnold ranks 29th in QBR and has thrown seven touchdowns to five interceptions over the last three games. He’s been sacked eight times over the past two games and tossed two picks at the Commanders and versus the 49ers. In back-to-back weeks, Darnold has thrown below 200 yards (168, 195) and completed 60% of his passes (31/51). The Seahawks running game ins’t look great with injuries keeping Zach Charbonnet and Jadarian Price out, plus George Holani isn’t 100-percent. Darnold will have an increased responsibility for the time being and luckily for him, Denver will be without two or three starting defensive backs on Thursday night.
· Denver: Bo Nix – After starting the season with an interception in three-straight games, Bo Nix has a clean sheet over the last two games. In those two at the 49ers and Chargers, Nix completed 59.4% of his passes for 337 yards and two touchdowns. Nix is coming off a season-low 123 passing yards on 16 completions against the Chargers. It’s the second game of the year under 150 passing yards, which is worrisome with first-year OC Davis Webb. On play-action and when blitzed, Nix ranks 31st and 36th in the NFL this year for completion percentage, plus he’s 33rd in completion percentage against man coverage. Not the start that Nix nor Webb wanted.
