The reigning Super Bowl champions aren't looking great of late, with Sam Darnold also floundering under center for the Seattle Seahawks.

The Seahawks were once again beset by poor quarterback play on Thursday, as they lost to the Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, 17-14.

Darnold turned the ball over with an interception with 1:25 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Broncos didn't score in the following possession, but Darnold's second interception of the evening doomed his team.

The former USC Trojans quarterback got picked off by Broncos defensive back Ja'Quan McMillian in overtime. Four plays later, Denver kicker Wil Lutz kicked a 53-yard field goal to win the game for Denver and hand the Seahawks their second loss in a row.

Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald was asked to assess Darnold's performance, and he didn't sugarcoat his response.

“It wasn't performance that was good enough to win the game. Our team, our quarterback, leads the team. I bet you Sam will be the first one to tell you that. We love him, but that's what it is,” Macdonald told reporters in a postgame press conference, via Gregg Bell of 93.3 KJR.

Darnold finished the game with 278 passing yards and zero touchdowns, while completing only 27 of his 51 pass attempts. Denver's defense often got to him in the pocket, with the Broncos sacking Darnold five times for a loss of 38 yards for the Seahawks.

Seattle started the season with back-to-back wins, but those were with Drew Lock running the show mostly. Darnold suffered an injury in Week 1 and returned to action in Week 3, when the Seahawks lost to the Washington Commanders. Seattle's win against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4 was followed by consecutive losses, leaving the Sehawks more questions to answer before it's too late.
