The Memphis Grizzlies have been one of the best teams in the NBA during the early-goings of the regular season with a 6-1 record. However, the Grizzlies are currently missing a key player in their rotation in point Scotty Pippen Jr. who has been dealing with a back injury.

Scotty Pippen Jr. was officially ruled out for the Grizzlies’ game against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday due to the back injury. But Grizzlies head coach Tuomas Iisalo seemed optimistic about Pippen’s prognosis and potential timeline for a return, as per Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal. He is expected to be either day-to-day or week-to-week, and he has seemingly avoided a more serious injury.

Pippen will have missed two consecutive games now after playing in the first five games of the season at just about 16 minutes per. He was averaging 6.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.0 steals with splits of 42.3 percent shooting from the field, 22.2 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 80 percent shooting from the free-throw line.

He last played on Oct. 29 during the Grizzlies’ win against the Portland Trail Blazers. He finished with two points in 14 minutes while knocking down the only shot he took.

Pippen originally went undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft and began his career with the Los Angeles Lakers via two-way contract.
