Arkansas football walked into a ghost town feel for its own home game versus Georgia. Then the Razorbacks and first-year head coach Ryan Silverfield absorbed a 45-17 trouncing at the hands of coach Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs. But the pregame scene prompted a reaction from ESPN personality Scott Van Pelt.

SVP asked this big question following witnessing the quaint atmosphere.

“I’m asking sincerely, Arkansas folks: two weeks into Silverfield’s tenure…you’re out?” Van Pelt asked on the social media website X, formerly Twitter. “I get it, it’s hot as hell, Utah smashed you and Georgia is as well. Just curious what you want to be done.”

Silverfield jumped from Memphis to Arkansas before Dec. 2025. And he earned the job amid rumors that former USF head coach Alex Golesh was taking over at Fayetetteville. Silverfield also left an American Athletic Conference (AAC) power that came close to making a College Football Playoff bid to build back a proud program.

But Silverfield's early start with Arkansas has become rocky. Utah demolished Arkansas 45-10 at Salt Lake City last Saturday. Now Silverfield received an unsettling “welcome to the SEC” moment via Smart and Georgia. The Razorbacks' lone win came during week one against Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) representative North Alabama 31-14.

But the fans who watched inside Razorback Stadium saw Silverfield's offense struggle, mustering three points through the first three quarters. Arkansas didn't cross the end zone until the 8:30 mark of the fourth quarter, with running back Sutton Smith scoring from five yards out.

Arkansas drops to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in SEC play.
