The New Orleans Saints have started the season 1-4, which has included three straight losses at home. Owner Gayle Benson is not pleased with the product that the team is putting out there, and she wants to see better results. That was her message when talking about the state of the franchise.
“As the owner, the responsibility does start with me,” Benson said, via Rod Walker of NOLA.com. “I will not make excuses and I will not accept this level of performance as our standard. I am committed to making the decisions necessary to improving this team. Everyone on this organization understands the urgency. We must prepare better, execute consistently and correct mistakes that are costing us the games.”
It seems like some of the players caught wind of Benson's comments, which included Tyler Shough, who knows he has to play better. Shough broke his silence regarding the comments and shared some of the ways that he can improve on the field to give the team a chance to win games.
“What I've been able to learn is whenever you get in these situations, I'm not trying to get it all back,” Shough said. “I don’t need to be Superman and try to make up for a previous play. I can be a little bit more detailed when it comes to that. I'm never gonna shy away from ripping it.

“I think a lot of those situations, you gotta be able to be confident; you gotta be firm, but there are a couple of times where either I can go find a running lane or just take a sack.”
The Saints have a chance to get back into the win column in Week 6 against the New York Giants, but it's going to take more than Shough stepping up his level of play.
