The New Orleans Saints are off to France for their NFL Paris Game showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7. And they could potentially have a key player back in time for the game.
Saints head coach announced that linebacker Kaden Elliss and wide receiver Jordyn Tyson have both made the trip to Paris with the team. ESPN insider Ian Rapoport retweeted that news and chimed in that it was a “good sign” that the rookie wideout could be close to making his return.
Tyson, the team's No. 8 overall pick in this year's draft, has yet to make his NFL debut after suffering a right hamstring injury during the offseason. Tyson had dealt with similar hamstring issues during his college days with Arizona State.
With Tyson out, Chris Olave has been the clear top target for quarterback Tyler Shough. Olave has 43 catches on 61 targets with 580 receiving yards. Third-year wideout Devaughn Vele is a distant second with 28 catches for 294 yards.
The Saints are coming off their second win of the season after defeating the New York Giants, 34-27. Shough, who is playing through broken bones in his left hand, had another tough throwing game as he completed just 16 of his 30 attempts for 144 yards. However, he still wound up with three touchdown passes.
Article Continues BelowTyson is unlikely to be much of a factor if he does make his return in France. He will still have significant rust to shake off after his layoff and will need to get up to speed to the NFL on his debut.
Still, it's a promising sign that the Saints' first-round pick is finally close to making his return. The Saints are hoping Tyson can be a significant part of their future, and they would like to see him in action sooner rather than later.
