Ohio State football suffered a crushing 24-23 loss to Texas on Saturday night. Texas is now No. 1 overall in the AP poll. Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day did provide some important injury updates on Tuesday following the brutal defeat, via Joey Kaufman of The Columbus Dispatch.

“Ryan Day said he doesn't expect right tackle Phillip Daniels or defensive end Zion Grady to be out for an extend period of time. ‘I don't see those being long term issues,'” Kaufman reported.

The Buckeyes should be able to bounce back with upcoming matchups against unranked opponents in Kent State and Illinois. They are then scheduled to play No. 18 Iowa before another unranked game against Illinois.

Ohio State is now No. 6 overall. They can improve that placement as the season moves forward, but returning to the No. 1 spot ahead of the College Football Playoff will obviously be a challenge. Texas' performance throughout the remainder of the season will help to determine the Buckeyes' trajectory in the rankings.

Nevertheless, this Ohio State football program should never be overlooked. They have been one of the best teams in the nation for years. One defeat to a Longhorns team that has been improving in recent seasons does not mean the Buckeyes' season is over. Rather, it is just a setback.

Day's injury updates on Tuesday suggest Ohio State will be getting key players back sooner rather than later, which is important without question. The Buckeyes' next game is scheduled for Saturday morning at 12 PM ET against Kent State.
