The Chicago Bears picked up one of the most impressive wins of the young NFL season on Monday night by defeating the Philadelphia Eagles in blowout fashion at home. The Bears were down to third-string quarterback Case Keenum in this one, but it mattered not, as the veteran was able to turn back the clock and torch the vaunted Eagles' defensive unit all evening.
Now, various former players have weighed in on the impressive win, including former NFL Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson.
“What's crazy is that he hadn't started in a game like that in a while… I think it really shows Ben Johnson's ability to get the ball to the right players at the right time,” he said, per NFL on CBS on X, formerly Twitter.
Meanwhile, former Eagles star Kyle Long also weighed in on the game.
“What stood out to me is that the game plan didn't look like it changed at all. It was, we're going to run the ball effectively, we're going to protect our quarterback… Case Keenum got rid of the ball in two and a clap seconds,” he said.
Indeed, the Bears didn't seem to put any limits on their playbook with Keenum under center, as the veteran frequently found wide receivers, especially Luther Burden III, open down the field against Philadelphia's elite defense.
The Bears now sit at 2-1 on the season, although next week, it figures to be Tyson Bagnet instead of Keenum getting the start as Caleb Williams continues to recover from his hamstring injury.
The Bears will next hit the field on Sunday afternoon at home vs the New York Jets.
