The Los Angeles Lakers took down the LA Clippers in the first of four contests this season between the two crosstown rival franchises. Luka Doncic had one of his worst offensive games in a Laker uniform, but the Clippers were overly careless with the basketball throughout the night, finishing with 26 turnovers as a team.

During the game, former Lakers teammates Doncic and Hachimura were seen embracing one another and cracking a few jokes. On one occasion, Doncic drew a foul on Hachimura and let him hear about it. Shortly after, Hachimura did the same to Doncic by drawing a foul himself as Doncic complained to the officials.

After the Lakers came away with the win, Hachimura was asked about his return to face Luka Doncic and what the Lakers star said during their exchanges.

“He was just trying to talk trash or whatever, but I don't care about that stuff,” Hachimura said. “Me and him had a good time, 2 years with the Lakers. I'm happy to see him healthy and back on the court. All the best to him.”

Rui Hachimura on his in-game engagements with Luka Doncic:

Hachimura finished his return game against the Lakers with 16 points, six rebounds, and two steals on 5-of-14 shooting from the field in 33 minutes of play. The Clippers lost the game due in large part to the 26 turnovers they committed leading to 33 points for the Lakers.

Luka Doncic struggled all night in the win, finishing with 23 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and 11 turnovers while shooting just 8-of-21 from the field. Austin Reaves and Walker Kessler were phenomenal to make up for Doncic, combining for 50 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists while shooting 20-of-27 from the field.

The two sides will take the court again and play against one another on Wednesday, this time at Intuit Dome.
