After being pulled from the Los Angeles Dodgers' rotation after suffering a blister on his throwing hand, Roki Sasaki has been working his way back to full strength.
Scheduled to throw a four-inning simulated live session on Wednesday instead of a normal start against the Cincinnati Reds, The California Post's Jack Harris reported that Sasaki performed well, to the point where Dave Roberts and company will have to have discussions about how best to use the second-year flame thrower when the postseason rolls around.
âÂÂRoki SasakiâÂÂs four-inning/48-pitch live session today went well, per Dave Roberts,â Harris wrote. âÂÂThe team is gonna huddle up now and decide if he will return as a starter or reliever. His likely playoff role is in âÂÂpen, but heâÂÂs also their best rotation insurance in case of any late injuries too.âÂÂ

With Edgardo Henriquez placed on IL as he tries to get healthy enough to make the playoff roster, the Dodgers really don't have an elite right-handed arm in their bullpen and could use one situationally alongside stalwart arms like Alex Vesia, Jack Dreyer, and Tanner Scott.
And yet, as LA fans know all too well, things can change in a hurry, and if injuries start stacking up once more, keeping Sasaki ready to go long might not be the worst idea either, just in case.
