The NC State Wolfpack fell 35-31 to the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday, in what might have been the worst way to lose a game in college football history. Shortly after the end of the contest, former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III shared his immediate reaction to the Wolfpack's complete blunder.

After asking for everyone's opinion on the should-be safety for NC State turned fumble recovery for a winning touchdown for Vanderbilt, Griffin called the play the worst executed play he's ever seen. While he liked the initial call from head coach Dave Doeren, the former Baylor Bears quarterback was in disbelief at how it played out.

“Dear Football Fans, this is a safe space,” Griffin said. “How do you feel about NC State trying to take an intentional safety up 31-28 on Vanderbilt with 6 secs left in the game? They fumbled and ended up losing. I'll start. Worst execution of a smart play EVER.”

That pretty much sums up the play. NC State quarterback CJ Bailey just had to kneel it in the end zone, or throw the ball behind him, or just fall down. Pretty much anything other than fumble the ball. Had a safety occurred, the Wolfpack would have won the game, as they were up three points over the Commodores.

NC State might have a hard time putting this one behind them. But that's exactly what this program must do, as the Wolfpack has a matchup against the App State Mountaineers on Saturday, September 26. That game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. EST.
