There will be another star-studded baseball movie in the future after Glen Powell's Lou Gehrig flick was announced, as acclaimed actor Robert De Niro may play legendary Los Angeles Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda.

Deadline reports that De Niro is in talks to play Lasorda in a project from Skydance Sports. The movie's working title is Tommy & Me.

No further details are known,  besides that it will chronicle the late manager's story and that George Gallo, Cambron Clark, and Reid Carolin — who will also direct it — are penning the script.

Lasorda briefly played in the MLB before getting into coaching. He joined the Dodgers' coaching staff in 1973 before becoming their manager in 1976. He would remain in the role for two decades until 1996.

During his career, Los Angeles won two World Series, and he was named NL Manager of the Year twice. Lasorda also had the No. 2 retired in his honor. A year after his retirement, he was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

He passed away on Sep. 21, 2021. His death was announced by his widow, Jo. Lasorda was 91 years old at the time of his tragic passing.

Even at 83, De Niro continues to work consistently. The two-time Oscar winner was recently nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon.

Since Killers of the Flower Moon, he has starred in comedies like About My Father and crime movies like The Alto Knights. His other recent credits include Tin Soldier and The Whisper Man.

De Niro will next be seen in Focker-in-Law, the fourth entry in the Fockers movie series. The Godfather Part II actor returns to play Jack Byrnes in the movie, which he also produced. Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Blythe Danner, and Teri Polo also reprise their roles from the last trilogy of films. Ariana Grande, Skyler Gisondo, Beanie Feldstein, and Eduardo Franco join the franchise in the movie.
