Denmark's Rasmus Hojlund made his feelings clear about Cristiano Ronaldo both during and after his team's defeat to Portugal on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026. Despite losing 2-4 to Portugal in the UEFA Nations League, Hojlund maintained his attitude and personality throughout the game.

Portugal scored two early goals in the game against Denmark. However, in the second half, Hojlund made it 2-2 with a lovely finish before running away and performing Ronaldo’s trademark SIU celebration. The moment soon went viral on social media as fans began talking about it.

However, Denmark's equalizer did not last long as Vitinha and Joao Felix netted in the final 25 minutes to hand Portugal the win. Earlier, during Portugal's game against Wales, Ronaldo was subbed off in the 70th minute, while he was made to sit on the bench for the entire 90 minutes against Norway. Reportedly not happy with the decision, Portugal recently called for an emergency meeting, following which Ronaldo left the national camp.

With him now gone from the team, Rafael Leao carried the weight of the prestigious number 7 jersey for Portugal. However, Leao failed to deliver and leave a lasting impression in the game. Despite Denmark losing, it was the Napoli striker's celebration that became the talking point. Fans on the internet started pointing out how it took a player from another nation to respect Ronaldo, while his own countrymen could not.

But for now, it seems Jorge Jesus' plan might be working, since without Ronaldo's presence in the team, Portugal dominated and managed to secure a 4-2 victory over Denmark.
