Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja'Marr Chase kept his thoughts to himself when asked about Jacksonville Jaguars defensive back/receiver Travis Hunter's development ahead of the teams' matchup on Sunday at Paycor Stadium.

During his media availability on Thursday, when Chase was asked to comment on Hunter's growth entering his second NFL season, he said:

“Ummm,” shook his head in silence, and added, “That's all I've got.”

Hunter was selected No. 2 overall by Jacksonville in the 2025 NFL Draft after starring as a two-way player. He appeared in seven games as a rookie before the Jaguars placed him on injured reserve in October. He split his time between wide receiver and cornerback during his first season.

The 23-year-old has moved to cornerback full time this season. Through three games, Hunter has recorded nine tackles and one interception. His first NFL interception came in Jacksonville's Week 1 win over the Cleveland Browns. He also intercepted a pass in the end zone during the Jaguars' 35-6 win over the New England Patriots last week.

Hunter previously faced Cincinnati during Week 2 of the 2025 season. He suffered an apparent injury in the second quarter but later returned on offense. He was also flagged for pass interference on fourth down late in the contest.

That game still featured a huge performance from Chase. Despite quarterback Joe Burrow leaving with a toe injury in the second quarter, the 26-year-old finished with 14 receptions for 165 yards and a touchdown as the Bengals won 31-27.

Chase enters this year's matchup after improving his production following a quiet season opener. He had 12 receiving yards in Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, then followed that up with 75 yards and two touchdowns versus the Houston Texans. Against the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, he recorded 98 yards and a touchdown.

Cincinnati and Jacksonville enter Week 4 with identical 2-1 records, setting up another meeting between Chase and Hunter.
