After Cristiano Ronaldo parted ways with the Portugal national team ahead of their Denmark game, things started to get heated. Following Ronaldo's exit, Portugal's new manager, Jorge Jesus, started receiving a lot of flak online due to his tactics and decisions.
At the recent Denmark vs. Portugal game, Jesus seemingly got into an exchange with Denmark's Rasmus Hojlund. Denmark's Hojlund appeared to react to Ronaldo's Portugal exit by bizarrely shoving manager Jorge Jesus, following their 2-4 defeat.
The former Manchester United star appears to have taken the treatment of his childhood hero almost quite personally. Shortly after the game, TV footage emerged, which showed Hojlund shoving Portugal coach Jesus away from him when the veteran went in for a handshake. Jesus seemed to dismiss the uncomfortable interaction with a smile, while the Danish player spoke a few words in obvious anger before walking away.
Fans on the internet were divided over Hojlund's actions. While some supported the act, others decided to call it out. “I am surprised by the amt of fans praising Hojlund for this childish act,” wrote one person. While another person commented, “What disrespectful player.” “Looks like Jorge Jesus said something to him thats why this reaction came,” guessed another person. One more person on social media believed it was a “playful push.”
