The New York Knicks have stumbled out of the gates so far in the 2026-27 NBA season, currently sitting at 0-3 ahead of Tuesday night's game against the Detroit Pistons. The tough start comes on the heels of the Knicks' 2026 NBA championship run, and their hopes of becoming the first team to repeat in nearly a decade aren't looking great so far.

Still, not everyone is concerned, and recently, former Knicks guard and NBA champ Iman Shumpert detailed why he is not worried about New York's rough first three games.

“I'm leaning towards it not being so much of a problem… When I look at how they’re playing, I don’t see bad basketball,” said Shumpert, per the NBA on ESPN on X, formerly Twitter.

Many optimistic Knicks fans have pointed out that the team is generating quality looks on offense so far, but is simply not making them at a high clip so far. The Knicks have also played three straight playoff teams from a year ago to open up their season, a trend that will continue with Tuesday's game.

Still, there has to be at least some level of concern about the struggles of Jalen Brunson, who has continued his ugly shooting numbers from last year's NBA Finals, as well as Mikal Bridges, who scored a grand total of zero points in Sunday's loss to the Orlando Magic.

While the sky isn't falling just yet, the Knicks will still want to get into the win column sooner rather than later as the season continues.

In any case, the Knicks and Pistons are slated to tip things off on Tuesday at 8:00 pm ET from Madison Square Garden.
