Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons has yet to make his 2026-27 season debut, as he continues to work his way back from a major left knee injury. However, his return is approaching, and Matt LaFleur's latest comments should at least make the fanbase feel a little encouraged.

When asked if the 27-year-old edge rusher could return to practice soon, LaFleur dropped a hopeful claim about Parsons' chances, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. As of now, Parsons has not returned to practice, but once he does, his return to the field becomes imminent.

“Could Packers star Micah Parsons return to practice next week?” Rapoport asked. “

“I sure hope so,” LaFleur said.

“If all goes well,” Rapoport continued, “Parsons should make his long-awaited return to the field.”

Micah Parsons has already been ruled out of the Packers' Week 8 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Considering it is a “Thursday Night Football” matchup, Green Bay seemingly wants to give the five-year veteran at least a full week of practice before returning. As of now, the earliest Parsons could return is in Week 9 against the New England Patriots.

The three-time First-Team All-Pro played 14 games for the Packers last season before sustaining the left knee injury. He looked as good as ever last year, recording 41 combined tackles (19 solo), 12.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. Green Bay certainly hopes that level of consistency returns whenever Parsons is back on the field.

Until then, the defense will continue relying on Lukas Van Ness and Barryn Sorrell in the outside linebacker spots in the Packers' 3-4 defense. Parsons is likely to replace Sorrell as the starter upon his return.
