With the Tennessee Titans taking on the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2 of the regular season, it's another chance for quarterback Cam Ward to prove that he's the face of the franchise in the foreseeable future. After the Titans' and Ward's brutal start to the season in the 23-10 loss to the New York Jets in Week 1, the young quarterback would claim himself to be a “very good” quarterback, which led to a reporter pushing back.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Ward would go into why he believes he's a “very good quarterback,” though admitting that there are areas where he needs to vastly improve.

“I think I'm a very good quarterback,” Ward said, via Jared Stillman. “I think I do a lot of things differently that a lot of quarterbacks can't do, and it's also stuff that I have to get better at, as some things that I lack. That's a process that you take on each and every day. I have great coaches around me to continue to push me to that level that I want to play at, and when the tide turns, I'm pretty sure you know it's gonna be a different story.”

Reporter challenges Titans' Cam Ward on his claim

When Ward was finished explaining, media member Paul Kuharsky would challenge, asking, “Doesn't a very good NFL quarterback have better results than you have?” The 24-year-old wouldn't answer condescendingly, instead expressing how “it comes with the game.”

“It comes with the defense you're playing. It comes with what the DC's [Defensive Coordinator] philosophy is, and every game is not gonna be a shootout. Every game is gonna be a…it could be a bad passer rating. It could be a bad completion ratio, but it's all about the win and loss, and we haven't done that. And that's something that we only focus on is winning.”

In the aforementioned loss to the Jets, Ward threw for 140 yards with a touchdown on completing 19 of 32 pass attempts, as he is 3-15 as a starter so far. Ward looks to prove his theory as Tennessee takes on the Eagles on Sunday.
