The Ravens completed a trade with the Eagles for center Cam Jurgens this week and they handled the final steps before the deal was done differently than their last high-profile attempt at a swap.
When the Ravens and Raiders agreed to a deal that would send defensive end Maxx Crosby to Baltimore in March, it was announced before a physical was completed. The Ravens failed Crosby once that physical took place at their facility and the deal fell apart as a result.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Ravens sent a pair of doctors to Philadelphia to conduct Jurgens’s physical at the Eagles facility this Wednesday. Once Jurgens passed the physical, the deal was finalized and announced. Schefter adds that other teams may now opt to take this step rather than announced trades that have been agreed to pending a physical.
While Jurgens passed the physical, he is not going to play for the Ravens in Week 5 because he remains in the concussion protocol. The team expects him to be cleared in time to play in Week 6.
