Lions head coach Dan Campbell said after Sunday’s win over the Cardinals that wide receiver Tom Kennedy was likely to miss time with a knee injury, but that the hope was that he avoided a long-term injury.

Monday brought less optimistic news about Kennedy’s condition. NFL Media reports that further testing showed a significant injury to his MCL. Kennedy is expected to have surgery to repair the injury and he is not expected to return to the field this season.

Kennedy did not catch any passes in the first five weeks of the season, but saw time as punt and kickoff returner in Detroit. He had 18 catches for 231 yards over 35 appearances for the Lions dating back to 2019.

The Lions also had linebacker Devin White go down with an injury on Sunday. He is set to have surgery on his broken forearm.
