The Detroit Red Wings finally have a general manager, at least on an interim basis, after months of speculation. Shawn Horcoff has taken up the role, at least on an interim basis. His most important order of business will be dealing with the Dylan Larkin trade situation.

Larkin has arrived at training camp for the Red Wings. He was stripped of the captaincy prior to camp opening. But he is there with his teammates. However, he will not be taking the ice to begin camp. Larkin suffered an injury and will not be skating as a result.

“It's going to take him a little bit of time to get back from it, and when we have a better timeline of when he will be back and available, we'll let everybody know,” Horcoff said, via NHL.com. “At some point, when he starts feeling better, of course we're going to integrate him into on-ice sessions, and he'll be back and skating with the team.”

Larkin, a Michigan native, requested a trade from Detroit this summer. The veteran center made the playoffs with the Red Wings in his rookie season. However, he has since missed the playoffs every single season.

The former Detroit captain has had success on the international stage. He was an integral part of Team USA in the Four Nations Faceoff and the 2026 Winter Olympics. He won Gold with the Americans in Milan back in February.

Whether Horcoff accommodates Larkin's trade request remains to be seen. For now, the Michigan native remains with the team and will take the ice as soon as he's able.
