After holding things down for the better part of five innings, Payton Tolle watched his night come to an end in Game 1 of the Wild Card Series between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees at just 83 pitches.

Discussing the loss and how it felt to be pulled so early, Tolle admitted he didn't have his best stuff in Game 1 but knows he gave it all he had.

“Wasn't good enough. Tried to. They had a good plan, and I threw a lot of balls,” Tolle said. “I think it's I didn't look at strike percentage or anything like that yet, but just didn't feel like I could command the zone. I'll kind of let some at-bats get away from me, but yeah, just a lot of pitches. But yeah, but like I said, I'm gonna go out there and compete. Compete my a** off.”
