The Tampa Bay Rays are preparing to play the Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series. Drew Rasmussen is the Rays' ace, but he won't be starting Game 1. Nick Martinez is getting the Game 1 start with Rasmussen expected to pitch in Game 2. Nevertheless, the right-hander is poised to make a significant impact in the Fall Classic. Rasmussen began his career in Milwaukee with the Brewers, so this series is especially meaningful for him.

However, he isn't viewing this as a revenge series — as some players often view matchups against their former ball clubs. Instead, Rasmussen made it clear he has nothing but love for the Brewers. Still, he wants to take care of business in the World Series, of course.

“Drew Rasmussen said if it was any other team, he’d be rooting for his former team, Brewers,” TV sports broadcaster Hazel Mae reported.

“We're here to do a job just as much as they are, and I'm excited for their fan base, for their organization… but at the end of the day… we really want to win the World Series,” Rasmussen said, via Mae.

The Rays won 98 games during the regular season. The Brewers won 103. It is undoubtedly going to be a thrilling series between two of MLB's best ball clubs. Pitching could very well determine the series.

Drew Rasmussen may even find himself in World Series MVP talks if he performs up to his expectations and helps Tampa Bay upset the team that finished with MLB's best record during the regular season.
