OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has been ruled out for Sunday's game at the Cleveland Browns, coach Jesse Minter announced Friday.

This marks the second game that Jackson will miss since spraining his left ankle in a win over the Tennessee Titans on Oct. 4.

A league source told ESPN's Adam Schefter earlier in the week that Jackson had a realistic chance of returning to play against the Browns. But the two-time NFL Most Valuable Player missed all three practices this week.

Backup quarterback Tyler "Snoop" Huntley will start for the Ravens (4-1), who hold a one-game lead atop the AFC North. Huntley has won his last three starts as a fill-in for Jackson, including a 30-23 overtime win on Sunday night against Atlanta when he scored the game-winning touchdown on a 1-yard sneak.

"We won't bat an eye with Snoop being in there," Minter said.

Since the start of the 2025 season, Huntley has the NFL's highest Total QBR (79.7) and completion rate (77.8%) among starting quarterbacks with at least three starts. In those three victories by Huntley, Baltimore has averaged 33.7 points per game.

"Of course we want 'L' [Jackson] out there, but we also want 'L' to be healthy and be ready whenever he's ready," Ravens running back Derrick Henry said. "Our job is just to hold it down until he gets back. Snoop's doing a heck of a job."

Jackson hurt his left ankle on his final play of the first half of a win over the Titans in Week 4. He remained suited up on the sideline, and Minter indicated after the game that there were talks about Jackson returning.

On Oct. 5, Minter said he didn't think Jackson's injury was going to long term but added, "we will see what happens."

Huntley rejoined the Ravens before the start the start of the 2025 season after the Browns cut him. Cleveland chose to release Huntley and keep four other quarterbacks on its 53-man roster: Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.

After beginning that season as Baltimore's No. 3 quarterback, Huntley replaced a struggling Cooper Rush as Jackson's primary backup by Week 6.

In the Ravens' first 15 games without Jackson, Baltimore was 4-11 (.266). Then, in the last three games without Jackson, Huntley has thrown four touchdowns and no interceptions in leading the Ravens to wins over the Bears, Rams and Falcons.
