The Baltimore Ravens suffered a blowout 33-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday Night Football, extending their losing skid to four straight games. The Ravens started undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano amid their quarterback injury crisis, and he was unable to make much of an impact in the game after the Ravens went down big.
While Ravens head coach Jesse Minter acknowledged the team was in a tough spot with Fagnano starting, he was not pleased with their second-half showing.
“In the second half, we just got in our own way. We're turning the ball over a couple times in a row. The defense was out there, it felt like the whole half. I thought they battled and fought, and did a decent job in the second half. But obviously, the results are not acceptable for us and what we're after,” Minter said.
After a relatively clean first half, Fagnano immediately threw an interception in the first drive of the second half, which led to a Jaguars field goal. The Ravens then committed back-to-back turnovers with another pick and a fumble to start the fourth quarter, which allowed the Jags to blow the game wide open.
These second-half collapses are becoming a common occurrence for the Ravens. Their current four-game losing streak started with back-to-back meltdowns against the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals with Tyler Huntley at quarterback.
While the absence of Lamar Jackson amid this skid has been huge, Minter has much work to do in terms of keeping his team playing to a high standard for the entire game.
