The Los Angeles Rams are operating with some uncertainty in their offense right now, as they figure out how to manufacture secondary pass-catching production in Davante Adams' absence. Terrance Ferguson can potentially help on that front. After missing the last five games with a medial ankle sprain, the 23-year-old tight end appeared ready to return for Sunday's road matchup versus the Washington Commanders. He reportedly had no injury designation heading into this NFC showdown. That is no longer the case. Ferguson sustained a hamstring injury in Friday's practice and has now been ruled out, per ESPN's Dan Graziano.
Following an offseason that seemed to come unbelievably easy, the supposedly invincible Rams have trudged through mounds of adversity during the 2026 campaign. Non-LA fans are not going to show sympathy, especially with game-wrecking pass-rusher Myles Garrett due to return, but the Ferguson setback is obviously rough news for a 4-4 squad that is trying to climb the standings.
The No. 46 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft recorded seven receptions for 63 yards and one touchdown in his first three games, with a six-catch Week 2 showing versus the New York Giants serving as his top performance thus far. Since Adams still has a long recovery ahead, Ferguson should command a healthy target share once he returns. But when will that be?
Overcoming a lingering ankle injury is hard enough. Now, the former Oregon Ducks standout is hampered with a hamstring issue that puts his immediate status in serious doubt.
Terrance Ferguson will process this bad news, regroup and watch his teammates duke it out with the Commanders on Sunday afternoon. Opening kickoff is at 1 p.m. ET.
