As the Miami Heat are off to an ugly 3-6 start to the season after the 120-100 loss to the Golden State Warriors, it was a reunion for two specific players on the team. While the Heat's Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins returned to take on the Warriors, it was another disappointing game for the latter, as he spoke honestly about his rough start to the season.

Wiggins had a productive preseason with the new-look Miami team led by Giannis Antetokounmpo, as he averaged 14.3 points per game on 60.6 percent shooting from the field and 46.7 percent (seven of 15) shooting from beyond the arc.

However, through nine games, Wiggins is averaging 8.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 40.8 percent from the field and 29.7 percent from three-point range.

Also disappointing on the defensive side of the ball, where he finds himself guarding the opposing team's top wing player, it has been pedestrian. Dallas Mavericks' Cooper Flagg shot six of eight from the field when guarded by Wiggins on Oct. 26, and Luka Doncic shot five of six from the field against Wiggins last Monday, as the veteran candidly expressed that he has to “figure a couple of things out.”

“Just keep focusing on the little things, and everything else will fall in line after that,” Wiggins said, according to The Miami Herald.

Heat's Bam Adebayo comes to the defense of Andrew Wiggins

One teammate who defended Wiggins was Heat captain Bam Adebayo, who got off to a slow start of his own and has been playing better, as he expressed that the 31-year-old is working through a “new role.”

“I don’t want to say it’s early anymore, but it takes time,” Adebayo said. “Especially when you got to go into a new role and figure out your way…So for him, I’m always trying to keep him positive. I’m always one of the people that’s like the tables will turn, and he’ll have his moment.”

At any rate, Wiggins continues to work through the rough patches with the next game on Saturday against the Sacramento Kings.
