With the New York Giants coming off the 27-21 win over the Houston Texans on Oct. 25, the team has been using the bye week to get ready for this Sunday as they take on the Philadelphia Eagles. However, Giants running back Cam Skattebo finds himself on the team's injury report after missing another practice on Friday, but what does that say about his status for Sunday against the Eagles?
According to Jordan Raanan at ESPN, Skattebo didn't practice on Friday, and while that usually means that a player is on track to miss the game on Sunday, head coach John Harbaugh didn't go that far during his press conference.
“Cam Skattebo did not practice again on Friday, per John Harbaugh. But the Giants coach wasn't ready to rule him out for Sunday against the Eagles,” Raanan wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
So far this season, Skattebo has recorded 418 yards with two touchdowns with New York, and while Harbaugh left a sliver of hope that he could be available on Sunday, his injury listing says otherwise. Raanan later reported that Skattebo is listed as “doubtful,” and with Tyron Tracy Jr. on the injured reserve, fans should expect Devin Singletary to be the lead back for the Giants against the Eagles.
“Cam Skattebo is doubtful for Sunday vs. Eagles,” Raanan wrote on X. “It's likely going to be Devin Singletary's show as the primary running back. Greg Desrosiers and Phil Mafah the other likely options.”
At any rate, it remains to be seen if Skattebo will somehow be active for the contest and if not, his next chance comes on Nov. 12 against the Washington Commanders.
