The Los Angeles Rams have dealt with several injuries throughout the season, and though they've been to most of their key players, the last thing they want to see is their quarterback in distress. After their win against the Los Angeles Chargers, Matthew Stafford was seen with an ice pack on his elbow, and the following day, head coach Sean McVay described it as soreness.
Stafford was asked about his elbow days later in practice, and everything seems to be okay.
“It feels good,” Stafford said. “Full practice as I have been all year and hope to continue to be that way.”
He was then asked aboout the ice pack following the game, and apparently, that's something he's been doing for some time now.
“You guys have been blind,” Stafford said. “I feel like I’ve been icing my arm every day out here walking around. That’s on you guys. You all are the ones that are out there reporting that I have ice on my arm. Listen, I’m 38 years old trying to keep up with these young bucks. A little bit of soreness and stuff that is not uncommon this time of year. Again, I haven’t missed a rep at practice. I haven’t missed a rep in a game, and I feel good. I’m not too worried about it.”
It's good news that his elbow doesn't seem to be slowing the Rams down, but it could be affecting how much Stafford is throwing each game. For three weeks straight, Stafford had thrown the ball 50+ times in each game, but in the last three games, the most he's thrown in a game is 33 attempts.
That could be because of his elbow or simply due to what the game calls for. The most important thing for Stafford and the Rams is that they're winning.
