The Los Angeles Rams seek new answers as they face a stunning 1-3 start amid Super Bowl hype. That includes coach Sean McVay addressing the secondary ahead of facing the Philadelphia Eagles. But McVay did address one controversial topic Wednesday: The Josh Wallace penalty.
The Rams cornerback landed on the wrong side of a pass interference call that kept the Denver Broncos' final drive alive Sunday. Broncos quarterback Bo Nix capped that drive with scoring the go-ahead touchdown on a QB sneak. Los Angeles eventually took the 30-26 defeat at Empower Field.
However, the debate raged after the Sunday Night Football loss on if Wallace indeed committed the foul. Multiple replays showed a far different take. Now, McVay received this intel about Wallace on Wednesday.
“Sean McVay said he was told by the league that Josh Wallace should not have been called for defensive pass interference on Sunday,” ESPN Rams insider Sarah Barshop posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.
The Rams defender did initiate contact first and had his right hand visibly wrapped over the Broncos' Pat Bryant's torso. But again, Bryant looks like the one grabbing and dragging on the play.
NBC rules analyst Terry McAulay did not believe Rams CB Josh Wallace should have been flagged for pass interference, in what may have otherwise been an interception.

Yet that call kept Denver in the game and ultimately, scored the final touchdown ahead of the Rams' last offensive drive. Los Angeles quarterback Matthew Stafford tossed a final interception into the hands of safety Talanoa Hufanga to win the game for Denver.
Now the Rams must avoid the 1-3 start with edge rusher Myles Garrett till out. But All-Pro wideout Puka Nacua coming back in. LA, though, enters this Eagles game losers of its last four contests against Philly.
