The Ole Miss football program is two days away from taking the field against the LSU Tigers, who are led by former Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin. It's sure to be a rowdy scene in Oxford as Kiffin makes his return to face the team he abandoned just before their playoff run last year.

Starting at quarterback for the Rebels will be Trinidad Chambliss, who was able to secure an extra year of college eligibility through a lengthy legal process this offseason.

Now, more information is coming to light on how Kiffin tried to recruit Chambliss to LSU and inadvertently ended up getting him back to the Rebels.

“He told me about this kid and how great he was,” said attorney Tom Mars, per Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports. “He said the waiver had been denied and it'd been going on for a long time and he wanted to get him to LSU and would I be willing to help him? We had a couple of conversations. I wanted Trinidad to have as many opportunities as he could have.”

Mars ended up teaming up with a different attorney to help Chambliss secure another year of eligibility with a high-profile lawsuit that caused plenty of controversy for the 24 year-old.

Chambliss' agent, Fletcher Smith, then spoke on what ultimately drew Chambliss back to Ole Miss.

“He had earned the respect of people in Oxford and across the country. So you had to ask: Do you walk away from everything you've built and potentially risk being vilified for leaving Ole Miss to go to LSU?” he wondered.

Chambliss will hope to prove to Kiffin that he too should have stayed in Oxford when the two teams square off on Saturday evening at 7:30 pm ET.
