On Saturday, LSU will visit Ole Miss on Saturday. There is bad blood between the schools stemming from Lane Kiffin bolting from Ole Miss to LSU before the Rebels' CFP run. Multiple coaches and players left Ole Miss for LSU, following Kiffin. One of those players to move from Ole Miss to LSU was star edge rusher Princewill Umanmielen.

Umanmielen initially signed a deal to stay with Ole Miss with Ole Miss in early January, but then entered the transfer portal on January 20 and signed with LSU the next day. That move, along with a similar move from offensive lineman Devin Harper, led Ole Miss to sue the two players in a breach-of-contract suit. Now, the next steps in those cases have been made, per Pete Thamel and Mark Schlabach of ESPN.

Umanmielen was served with court papers in relation to the suit on Tuesday in the parking lot of the LSU football facility. The timing of the move is interesting, considering the two schools are set to face off at 7:30 pm ET on Saturday. According to ESPN, LSU officials were aware that Ole Miss officials would be serving Umanmielen, but the timing stands out.

The Rebels are seeking $550,000 from Umanmielen in the suit, plus attorneys' fees and court costs. The school previously released a statement about the suit.

“The University of Mississippi values its student-athletes and is committed to honoring all obligations made to them,” the university said in July. “In return, the university expects that same commitment from its student-athletes and their representatives in upholding their contracts.”
