The 2026/27 Premier League season is underway and there is plenty to be excited about. Many of the biggest clubs in the division are under new management, and a busy summer transfer window has reshaped several squads.
The Premier League's competitiveness makes it the most watched league in the world, but there are still a handful of teams expected to dominate this term. The opening weeks have already produced their share of surprises as sides find their rhythm after the World Cup.
In this article we take a look at the latest Premier League winner odds, before analysing the various contenders for the prize.
A current look at the Premier League winner odds
Here are the 20 teams in the Premier League in 2026/27 and the latest odds on them winning the title, provided by the bestÃÂ football betting sites.
Arsenal are the Premier League title favourites, with Manchester City seen as their likeliest challengers. Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are next on the list and offer decent value, followed by Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.
Coventry City are available at the longest odds of all 20 sides, with Crystal Palace the next-longest and fellow promoted clubs Ipswich Town and Fulham not far ahead of them.
Hull City, priced alongside them before a ball was kicked, have already been cut sharply after taking eight points from their opening four.
Premier League title favourites
The Premier League winner betting odds show there are two clear favourites to finish top of the table: Arsenal and Manchester City. Let's take a look at why these two teams are ahead of the rest.
Arsenal
After finishing as Premier League runners-up for three seasons in a row, Arsenal finally got their hands on the trophy last term. There were a few nervous moments along the way, but in the end the Gunners finished seven points clear of the chasing pack. They are now looking to keep hold of the prize for at least another campaign.
Mikel Arteta has built his team on solid foundations. Arsenal had the meanest defence in the league last time out, conceding the fewest goals and keeping the most clean sheets. Set-pieces were a major part of their attacking strategy, and Arsenal had a knack for grinding out wins and finding a way to get over the line.
They have carried it straight into this season, winning each of their opening four league matches and taking six victories from six in all competitions including the Community Shield. The win at Sunderland was the template: David Raya saved a penalty, Bruno Guimarães scored two minutes later and Bukayo Saka added a stoppage-time second.
David Raya, Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhães were the standout performers last season, and all three remain central. Martin ÃÂdegaard and Saka are Arsenal's most gifted attackers and that pair will shoulder much of the creative load. The one significant absence is William Saliba, facing months out with a back problem.
Christos Tzolis was signed as a replacement for the outgoing Leandro Trossard, while Arsenal welcomed all-action midfielder Guimarães from Newcastle United and Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa. In terms of depth and cover, the Gunners have the strongest squad in the Premier League.

Manchester City
The Premier League outright odds 2026/27 have Manchester City down as second-favourites, as they look to regain a trophy that has gone elsewhere in the last two campaigns. Pep Guardiola departed after a glorious decade at the helm, with his former assistant Enzo Maresca employed as the Catalan's successor.
Needless to say, Maresca has big shoes to fill. Guardiola won six titles at the Etihad Stadium; only Sir Alex Ferguson has been a more successful manager in the Premier League era.
The transition has been smoother than most expected. City matched Arsenal by winning each of their first four, and the manner of the fourth said the most: they went down to ten men at Old Trafford after 23 minutes, refused to sit deep, and won the derby through an Erling Haaland goal on the hour.
On the plus side, City's squad does not lack talent. Haaland is the world's most prolific centre-forward, while Rayan Cherki and Jérémy Doku came on leaps and bounds last time out. Marc Guéhi and Abdukodir Khusanov also formed a promising centre-back partnership in the second half of last season.
They had to replace World Cup Golden Ball winner Rodri in midfield, who joined Barcelona in a ã65m move. Elliot Anderson arrived for ã116m, and the club record went again before the window shut when Enzo Fernández joined from Chelsea for ã125m. The Argentine has settled quickly enough to be the standout performer of City's opening month.
Defensive duo John Stones and Nathan Aké, as well as playmaker Bernardo Silva, also left for pastures new.

Premier League title dark horses
Although Arsenal and Manchester City are obvious title favourites, one of the following dark horses could capitalise if the top two are not on top form.
Chelsea
Chelsea were on course to finish in the top four last season until Enzo Maresca's dramatic exit around the turn of the year.
Liam Rosenior did not work out as his replacement, but Chelsea have been far more competitive under new manager Xabi Alonso, who is looking to restore his reputation after a frustrating stint at Real Madrid.
The adjustment has been quicker than anticipated. Chelsea won at Fulham with 37% of the ball and beat Brighton with 26%, which tells you how Alonso wants to play. The defensive question remains: seven goals conceded in their opening four is the number holding them back.
The headline news from the summer transfer market was the addition of Morgan Rogers. There is no doubting the England international's talent, but a mammoth fee of ã117m puts the former Aston Villa man under pressure. It also remains to be seen how well he works with Cole Palmer, who does his best work in a similar role in attacking midfield.
Chelsea also signed Marco Palestra, Maxence Lacroix, Emiliano MartÃÂnez, Emmanuel Emegha, Pep ChavarrÃÂa, Jordan Henderson, Danny Welbeck, ValentÃÂn Barco and Geovany Quenda in another busy summer at Stamford Bridge. Enzo Fernández, Marc Cucurella, Nicolas Jackson, Tyrique George and Andrey Santos moved on.

Liverpool
Despite winning the league in 2024/25, Arne Slot was fired following an underwhelming second season in the Anfield dugout. Andoni Iraola, who excelled with Bournemouth previously, has replaced him.
The appointment of Iraola, a disciple of Marcelo Bielsa and an advocate for a high-pressing strategy, suggested a return to the 'heavy metal' football popularised by Jürgen Klopp. But this is by far the biggest job Iraola has ever had, and the early evidence is that the system needs time. Liverpool drew three of their opening four and needed until the third weekend for a first win.
Counterintuitively, Liverpool regressed after Slot had been given the opportunity to bring in more players. The hope at Anfield is that Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak will shine having now had a full season to adapt, and Isak has delivered, scoring three in his opening three league games. That already matches his entire league return from last season.
Club legends Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson moved on, and Ibrahima Konaté joined Real Madrid. Liverpool spent much of the window chasing Bradley Barcola and eventually paid Paris Saint-Germain ã123m for him, with VÃÂctor Muñoz and Jérémy Jacquet also arriving.

Manchester United
Manchester United had a dismal first half of last season under Ruben Amorim, before Michael Carrick brought about a significant upturn in fortunes as interim boss. Carrick has now been handed the reins on a permanent basis and he will be looking to build on United's third-place finish in 2025/26.
That has not been easy. United lost at Hull on the opening weekend, answered it by putting five past Ipswich through a Bruno Fernandes hat-trick, then lost a derby in which they faced ten men for 67 minutes and hit the post twice.
They also have more to juggle. United exited both cup competitions early last season and were entirely absent from Europe. This time around, Carrick has to balance the Premier League with the Champions League, which puts greater demands on the squad.
There were positive signs aplenty from United's new-look front three last campaign, with Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin à  eà ¡ko settling in well. Fernandes remains one of the best playmakers in world football.
In a bid to strengthen their midfield, United raided fellow Premier League sides Aston Villa and Chelsea for Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, and paid Brighton ã70m for Carlos Baleba. Casemiro and Jadon Sancho were both released when their contracts expired.

Who will look to break up the order?
After back-to-back 17th-place finishes, Tottenham Hotspur were aiming to return to the European conversation this season. It has not started that way, with Spurs failing to score in any of their opening four league games despite spending more than ã300m.
Aston Villa lost some important players to rival Premier League teams and have found the opening weeks just as hard, going winless through their first four for the second season running. They can never be written off with Unai Emery at the helm, but this is a rebuild rather than a continuation.
Newcastle United, meanwhile, are led by Matthias Jaissle following Eddie Howe's exit.
Bournemouth, Brentford, Sunderland, Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace have all punched above their weight one way or another in recent seasons, while Nottingham Forest are climbing the division under Oliver Glasner. Brighton have started the strongest of that group, scoring more goals than any club in the division.
Bournemouth, Sunderland, Brighton and Palace all have European football to contend with this season.

My favourite betting picks ahead of the Premier League season
Here are my recommended bets for the 2026/27 Premier League season.
To finish bottom
Coventry City have endured a difficult return to the Premier League. Frank Lampard's side have lost all four of their opening matches and sit bottom of the table without a point, while fellow promoted clubs Hull City and Ipswich Town have already collected eight and six points respectively.ÃÂ
A 5-0 home defeat by Brighton last time out also left Coventry without a Premier League goal this season, and the bookmakers have reacted by making them favourites to finish 20th. Betfred are among the firms offering 11/10 on the Sky Blues finishing bottom.

Most assists
The early Premier League assist race has thrown up an interesting contender in Cody Gakpo. The Liverpool forward is joint-top of the standings with three assists after four matches, and all three have set up Alexander Isak.
He also scored and assisted in LiverpoolâÂÂs League Cup win over Tottenham in midweek, so his strong start has continued across competitions.ÃÂ
Bruno Fernandes and Rayan Cherki remain shorter in the market, but Gakpo's developing partnership with Isak gives him a realistic route to staying in the race.
He is currently available at 14/1, which is a much bigger price than the two market leaders.
â½ Back Cody Gakpo to record the most Premier League assists at 14/1 with bet365 â½
Season handicap
A season handicap covers the entire campaign. The favourites to win the title, in this case Arsenal, start on 0 points. Every other side in the Premier League is then given an artificial headstart, and your bet is on whether your chosen team finishes above or below the champions once that headstart is added.
For example, Manchester City as the strongest challengers are assigned around +3, whereas relegation candidates like Ipswich Town sit closer to +43. The wider the gap the bookies expect, the bigger the headstart.
Tottenham Hotspur are the interesting name here. Their handicap was set at +16 on the basis of a ã300m summer and no European football, and a goalless opening month has pushed the price out from 16/1 to 66/1. That is the bet: not that Spurs are good now, but that a squad assembled at that cost eventually produces enough to cover a number set before anyone had seen them play.
â½ Choose Tottenham Hotspur +16 at 66/1 with bet365 â½
What do previous Premier League winners have in common?
There are many different ways to win a Premier League title, but there are some common green flags which indicate a team is ready to at least challenge for the prize.
- Winning ugly. The ability to grind out victories when you are not playing well is a positive sign for any would-be challengers.
- Starting strong and/or gathering momentum in the winter months. The games come thick and fast around Christmas, with plenty of points up for grabs. Alternatively, you can leave your competitors trailing in your wake by winning a few matches in a row at the beginning of the season.ÃÂ
- A favourable run-in. If the fixture list throws up some kind fixtures towards the end of the season, that is a huge advantage for a team which aspires to be champions.
- Scoring plenty of goals, and conceding few. This might sound obvious, but Premier League title winners usually possess one of the most prolific attacks in the division as well as one of the most watertight defences. Having the leagueâÂÂs top scorer in your ranks also helps - on which note, we recommend tipping Erling Haaland to finish as the Premier LeagueâÂÂs top scorer. Right now, you can grab boosted odds of 50/1 on him landing the Golden Boot with Coral - if you're a new customer.
What other boosts and offers could appear during the Premier League season?
It is worth keeping an eye out for boosts and offers throughout the Premier League season, as bookies can release these at any time. They are usually published ahead of a new Premier League matchday, and common examples include enhanced odds on a player to score or a team to win.
Accumulator boosts are also common, with bookies increasing the odds when bettors make multiple wagers. Money-back promotions are similarly attractive, with punters receiving their stake back as a free bet if certain conditions are met.
FAQs about the Premier League title race
In this section, we provide answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about the Premier League title race.
1. How quickly can the picture at the top of the table, and also therefore the odds, change during the season?
The picture at the top of the Premier League table can change quickly, and the odds constantly shift based on events on and sometimes off the field. A statement victory or shock defeat can leave a challenger strengthened or weakened, as can a change of manager, an injury to a key player, or an exciting new signing.
It is worth monitoring the Premier League title odds throughout the season to see whether there is value to exploit. For example, if you are convinced that Manchester City will win the Premier League title even after a disappointing defeat, you might find better odds than were available before the game they lost.
2. How many points does a team usually need to win the Premier League?
There is no fixed tally which guarantees a team the Premier League title (just ask Liverpool, who finished second on 97 in 2018/19). Over the last five seasons, the Premier League champions have accumulated an average of 88.4 points.
Having previously required a total in the late 80s or 90s over the last decade, the last two champions finished with a tally in the mid-80s.
However, because the runners-up have often finished a distance behind the title winners, a lower total would have been sufficient to claim the prize. Indeed, you would have won the league with 79 points in 2025/26 or 75 in 2024/25.
3. How often has the Premier League title been successfully defended?
Since the launch of the Premier League in 1992, only three clubs have won more than one championship on the bounce: Manchester United (1992/93 and 1993/94; 1995/96 and 1996/97; 1998/99, 1999/00 and 2000/01; 2006/07, 2007/08 and 2008/09), Chelsea (2004/05 and 2005/06) and Manchester City (2016/17 and 2017/18; 2020/21, 2021/22, 2022/23 and 2023/24).
Interestingly, the current champions Arsenal have won the Premier League title four times in the division's current incarnation, but they have never gone back-to-back. You have to go back to the 1930s for the last time Arsenal won the title in consecutive years.
4. How often have the bookies been right with the pre-season title favourites?
In the last six Premier League seasons, the bookies have correctly predicted the champions on three occasions: 2021/22 (Manchester City), 2022/23 (Manchester City) and 2023/24 (Manchester City).
They have also been wrong three times. In 2020/21, the favourites were Liverpool but Manchester City won the title. In 2024/25, those two clubs swapped positions. And in 2025/26, Liverpool were available at the shortest odds pre-season, yet Arsenal were the title winners
