Prasidh, Pant, Bumrah in India squad for New Zealand Test series

Prasidh Krishna has been picked in India's squad for the two-match Test series in New Zealand, but his participation in the preceding ODI series is subject to fitness clearance. Rishabh Pant has also been named in the Test squad, subject to fitness clearance.

Jasprit Bumrah will not be part of the ODI squad, but will return to lead the attack in the Test series, which begins with the first game in Wellington on November 19.

Pant had suffered a side strain during the recent Irani Cup while captaining Rest of India, playing a sweep in the first innings. He was subsequently ruled out of the first two unofficial Tests against New Zealand A.

Cricinfo understands Prasidh's scans only revealed a left hamstring strain, and not a tear. The fast bowler has spent the past two weeks doing S&C (Strength and Conditioning) work and recovery, along with massages and mobility drills. He was picked in the ODI squad for only the first three games (subject to fitness clearance).

Akash Deep was back in India's Test squad after proving his form and fitness in the Irani Cup and more recently in the first round of the Ranji Trophy for Bengal. Anshul Kamboj also returned to the Test side after making his debut in Manchester in July 2025.
