The Indian batter has been appointed Friendship Ambassador for India by Switzerland Tourism while recovering from a hamstring injury.
Jemimah Rodrigues has been appointed Friendship Ambassador for India by Switzerland Tourism, the organisation announced on October 15, 2026. The appointment was made public in Bangalore in the presence of Martin Nydegger, Chief Executive Officer of Switzerland Tourism. India ranks among Switzerland Tourism's top 10 source markets, and the campaign aims to attract more Indian visitors during the autumn and winter months, reducing the concentration of travel bookings between April and June.
The initiative will cover all four seasons, with particular emphasis on drawing Indian travellers during the cooler months when fewer visitors typically travel to the Alpine nation. Rodrigues continues her recovery from a significant injury sustained during international league cricket, and this ambassadorial role comes at a time when she is focused on rehabilitation.
Rodrigues expressed her enthusiasm for the appointment.
"Representing India has always been something very special to me, and wherever I travel, I carry a little bit of home with me. What excites me about this association is the chance to discover Switzerland beyond everything we already know and love about it. I'm looking forward to meeting people, trying new things, exploring different places, and sharing those moments with everyone back home," Rodrigues was quoted as saying by India Today.
Injury timeline and The Hundred performance
Rodrigues sustained a high-grade tear in her right hamstring while representing Southern Brave in The Hundred on August 3, 2026. The injury forced her withdrawal from the remainder of that competition. During her time in the tournament before the injury, she scored 143 runs across six innings at a strike rate of 131.19, including consecutive Player of the Match awards.
The hamstring injury has kept Rodrigues sidelined from major international tournaments. She missed the Women's Asia Cup and the Asian Games due to the injury. She will also miss India's upcoming T20 International and One Day International series against Zimbabwe as she continues her recovery programme.
Rodrigues is targeting a return to full fitness in time for India's tour of South Africa later in 2026, which represents her next major international assignment. She has been sharing updates of her rehabilitation work on social media, including gym sessions and batting practice as she works towards regaining match fitness.
