Darts icon Phil Taylor could return to the sport eight years after retiring.

The 16-time world champion, widely considered the greatest darts player of all time, is practising and 'seeing if he can get his form back'.

Taylor 'training a lot'

'The Power' stepped away from the oche after losing the World Championship final to Rob Cross in 2018, but he hasn't ruled out a sensational comeback.

Taylor told Oche180: "Yeah, we will play little odd things for fun. I am practising for about an hour a day.

"My form isn’t like it used to be. I just have to sharpen up a little bit. Everything changes as you get older.

"I am 66 now so your body changes. I am training a lot now and doing gym work.

"I’m trying to get back as I used to do. I am eating very healthy. We will see what happens now, see if I can get my form back.

"I am playing alright but not like I could. I couldn’t beat the two Lukes [Littler and Humphries] at the minute or Chris Dobey or whatever. I can hold my own in a pub league."

It comes after Taylor revealed last month some of the major lifestyle changes he had made.

Taylor lends advice to Littler

Taylor also offered some words of wisdom to two-time reigning world champion Littler.

"Once you become famous, you have to learn to say no; you have to be a little bit selfish," he said.

"You need your rest, so get plenty of sleep. If you are tired, you’re not going to perform properly.

"You have to upset people. You have to say ‘No, sorry, I have to get ready for this’.

"I would say select what you are doing – which he is doing."

The 19-year-old has just had his dream of an unprecedented clean sweep of televised PDC majors.

However, 'The Nuke' lost 10-4 to Jonny Clayton in the quarter-finals of the World Series of Darts Finals on Sunday.

Littler had beaten Nathan Aspinall 10-9 on Saturday to reach the last eight in Amsterdam.

He didn't take kindly to a hostile crowd in the Dutch capital, as he experienced en route to victory over home favourite Danny Noppert on Friday.

Littler went as far as to threaten to boycott tournaments in the Netherlands, having previously done so with events in Germany.
