TreVeyon Henderson's role in the New England Patriots' backfield has reportedly declined, prompting speculation that the team could consider moving on from the young running back.

CBS Sports' Tyler Sully floated Henderson as a potential trade candidate, pointing to his diminishing role behind Rhamondre Stevenson. Corey Kiner is also emerging as a potential RB2B.

“This would be a calculated sell. I think they can move off from TreVeyon Henderson. Second-round pick from Ohio State in 2025, hasn't really lived up to it so far. He is already going off to the wayside in this backfield. Rhamondre Stevenson remains RB1 for them,” Sully said.

Sully also identified the New York Giants as a potential landing spot. Moving Henderson could allow New England to recoup some draft capital after pursuing a trade for A.J. Brown ahead of the season.

Still, a Henderson trade would be surprising at this stage. The former Ohio State standout is playing on a rookie contract, giving the Patriots multiple years of team control without a major financial commitment. While his production and opportunities have not matched expectations, he remains a young player with room to develop.

New England also has little reason to give up on Henderson without receiving a compelling offer. His reduced role may create questions about his future, but that does not mean the Patriots are ready to move on.

For now, the trade buzz is worth monitoring, though Henderson appears more likely to remain part of New England's long-term plans than become an immediate trade casualty.

Henderson remains banged up and on the injury report.
