On Sunday afternoon, the New England Patriots improved to 5-3 on the 2026 NFL season with a narrow road win over the divisional rival Miami Dolphins. This certainly wasn't a performance to write home about for the Patriots, but the team ultimately did just enough in the fourth quarter to improve to 24-19 on the season.

It was a tough day for kicker Andy Borregalas, who missed one of his field goal attempts against the Dolphins, and after the game, head coach Mike Vrabel kept it real about the team's kicker situation.

“Mike Vrabel didn’t indicate if he would be bringing any kickers in this week. He just said Andy Borregalas needs to make his kicks,” reported Karen Guregian of MassLive Sports on X, formerly Twitter.

Borregalas has mostly been reliable throughout his tenure with the Patriots, but if the struggles continue to mount, it certainly wouldn't be a surprise to see Vrabel elect to bring in some competition on the practice field to try to give New England the best possible chance to put points on the board. In an NFL landscape where kickers are now routinely hitting kicks from 60-plus yards out, it's more important than ever for teams to be able to rely on their kicking game to come through in the biggest moments.

Still, the Patriots were able to do enough to get the win on Sunday, and now sit in a good position in the AFC, although the Buffalo Bills still lead the division.

The Patriots will next hit the field next Sunday for a big home game against the Green Bay Packers. Kickoff is set for 4:25 pm ET.
